Nicholas Bykowsky, Jr., was born and raised in northern New Jersey and has been a resident of Florida since 1996. He passed all four parts of the Uniform Certified Public Accounting exam in 1996, worked as a staff accountant at a regional accounting firm in Wisconsin during the years 1994-1995, and with several accounting firms in southeast Florida during the years 1996-1997.
Mr. Bykowsky has been admitted to practice law in Florida for over 21 years and has primarily represented clients in business law matters, complex business litigation, and representing the Florida Department of Revenue in tax controversies, representing the state securities regulator, and representing private businesses in both corporate matters and health care law. He has appeared as lead trial counsel in Florida circuit courts in every major metropolitan area of the state, as lead appellate counsel on behalf of the State of Florida, arguing cases in the District Courts of Appeal and in the Florida Supreme Court.
In 1998 Mr. Bykowsky was appointed an Assistant Attorney General in the Tax Section of the Office of the Florida Attorney General and served in that position for over 13 years, handling trials and appeals in state and federal courts, and in the Division of Administrative Hearings. During the years 2011 through 2014, Mr. Bykowsky was employed as General Counsel for a group of Pensacola health care companies that developed, owned and operated MRI centers in four Gulf coast states, assisted with the start-up and growth of a wholesale pharmaceutical business. Most recently, Mr. Bykowsky was employed for nearly two years as an Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Office of Financial Regulation - Division of Securities, in both the downtown Miami and West Palm Beach regional offices. His accounting and financial background and decades of trial and appellate experience in Florida courts state-wide provide a solid foundation for the analysis and presentation of clients’ family law issues, including valuation of businesses, forensic accounting, investigation of factual and financial matters for use in court hearings and trials.
Mr. Bykowsky has a love for music and has performed as a member of local concert bands, orchestras, and jazz bands throughout his entire life; he is an accomplished professional-level trombonist. He was an avid runner and in 1994 he completed his first - and last - marathon run in just under five hours. Hobbies include golf, composing music, and work on completing his first novel. He thoroughly enjoys outdoor activities and travels out west for hiking in the mountains. Having lived and worked in Wisconsin, he continues to support and follow both Wisconsin Badger sports and Green Bay Packers football.
