Julie Dawn Leckart was born in the Bronx, New York and moved to Harrison, Westchester County, New York when she was six. At an early age, she excelled in school because of her love for reading and learning. Upon graduating from Harrison High School, Ms. Leckart moved to South Florida to attend the University of Miami.
In 1985, Ms. Leckart became a full-time wholesale clothing sales representative for major companies such as Body Glove, Andrew Marc Leathers, ID# and numerous others. During that time, she travelled between Miami, Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and the Caribbean. As a sales representative, Ms. Leckart’s initial experience taught her business concepts and negotiation techniques.
In 1991, Ms. Leckart returned to Law School at the University of Miami. Throughout her law program, she primarily focused on family law cases.
Upon graduating from the University of Miami Law School in 1994, Ms. Leckart began working in Key West at a family law office. Being on a small island was a great experience. Appearing before a handful of Judges on a regular basis, one’s integrity, knowledge and word become evident very quickly.
In 2002, she returned to Miami and began working with Andrew F. Rier, P.A., where in addition to heading his family law practice, she also honed skills as a criminal lawyer. In 2009, in addition to private family law and criminal practice, she began working as Regional Counsel for the Third District in Miami, representing indigent clients in misdemeanor, felony and dependency cases.
In 2011, Ms. Leckart returned to New York City and began working at a prestigious family law firm located one block from Grand Central Station. She served that community until 2015 when she returned to sunny South Florida and continued practicing law.
In March 2020 she began working with the Figueroa Law Group, P.A. where each Client’s concerns are addressed by the most experienced attorney. The law firm’s philosophy is simple: Provide clients with excellent service by keeping open communication, negotiating settlements when possible and zealously advocating for the client at hearings or trial.
Going through a divorce may very well be one of the most difficult times of your life. Everything is changing. You may feel hopeless, helpless and totally lost. Ms. Leckart understands this and has a unique way of helping her clients keep their lives together while their marriages are falling apart. She does this by being a Counselor at Law.
Her goal is to make the lives of her clients a little bit better by providing what they need to move forward.
