Amika Jeffries, Esq. is native to the sunny and sandy beaches of Pensacola, Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Health Science, with honors, from the illustrious and historical institution, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. With this degree she planned to be a sports physical therapist to a professional sports team. During her undergraduate studies, she became interested in social justice and found that a legal career would better quench her desire to help people. After a short break to gain experience in the workforce, she earned a Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in May of 2019.

Before she graduated law school, Attorney Jeffries began her practice of law as a Certified Legal Intern with the Sixth Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office. There she learned the procedure and law surrounding Juvenile Courts through the Office’s grant crossover program – a program that allowed a child in the dependency and juvenile courts to have one attorney advocating for their interest in both matters. Upon passing the bar in 2019, Attorney Jeffries remained at the Office and began practicing criminal law. She spent a year gaining thorough trial experience under former Public Defender Bob Dillinger.

After her time working in Pinellas County, Attorney Jeffries moved back home to Pensacola, where she continued her work as an Assistant Public Defender in the First Judicial Circuit, under Public Defender Bruce Miller. During the next year and a half, Attorney Jeffries really began to flourish and come into her own as a criminal law attorney. She immensely enjoyed advocating for indigent clients and ensuring the government was not overreaching or wrongfully prosecuting her clients.

In January 2022, Attorney Jeffries decided to bring her talents to Brevard County. Throughout law school, Attorney Jeffries was intrigued by the practice of family law. Finding The Figueroa Law Group was beneficial for her to be mentored in the practice area and maintain her love of helping people get the best care in navigating the legalities of their matters. Since working with this law firm, she has already become a rising star. Attorney Jeffries is working on community involvement as she plans to make Brevard County her home.
