Will you be making an appearance in divorce court in the near future and require some guidance on how to prepare? There are certain rules when it comes to preparing yourself, and how you must act whilst in court. Take note of the following advice to improve your chances of a successful outcome:
- Show respect: when in court, you must be respectful to everyone. Regardless of what your emotions are, by being respectful you have a much higher chance of the judge seeing your side of the story in the way you’d want to. Taking the high road might not be easy but it is the right thing to do.
- Dress correctly: to be taken seriously you need to dress for the occasion. Never been to court before? Not a problem, simply dress as if you were going to a business interview and you’ll be fine. Also, make sure you are well-groomed to look the part and you should get the respect of the court.
- Strategize with your attorney: have a meeting with your attorney where you go over the strategy that will be used on the big day. Most attorneys will brief their clients on what to expect, how to act, what to say and not to say.
